{"id":127,"date":"2019-12-15T18:54:17","date_gmt":"2019-12-15T18:54:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ehssportshalloffame.com\/?page_id=127"},"modified":"2021-03-22T00:25:45","modified_gmt":"2021-03-22T00:25:45","slug":"dixie-saucier","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/ehssportshalloffame.com\/?page_id=127","title":{"rendered":"Dixie Saucier"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A name that will always be associated with Eunice High School, Dixie Saucier is a well- respected and beloved educator and coach.&nbsp; Her love of sports and wanting young women to love them as well was evident during her 30 years of service to the Bobcats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 1943 graduate of Abbeville High School, Dixie Saucier\nentered LSU at the young age of 16. Having played both basketball and softball\nin high school, Saucier felt a calling in her heart to teach children.&nbsp; She majored in physical education and\ngraduated in 1947.&nbsp; Saucier moved with\nher husband, Edmond, to Eunice where they both taught and coached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dixie Saucier coached basketball and track and established\nthe first gymnastics team at EHS.&nbsp; She\nmentored and coached many successful athletes particularly two outstanding Lady\nCats, Sylvia Gallow and Lucille \u201cLucy\u201d Lejeune.&nbsp;\nSaucier took her physical education students on many trips where they\nreceived lessons in swimming, tennis, golf, bowling, and marksmanship.&nbsp; She desired that her students develop a love\nfor life time sports that they could participate in throughout their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Retiring from EHS in 1978, Dixie Saucier continue her life\u2019s\ncalling by teaching at Louisiana State University in Eunice for 11 years.&nbsp; Again, her love of sports and her commitment\nto education was felt by the entire LSUE community.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dixie Saucier and the late Edmond Saucier have three\nchildren, Renee, Adele, and Stephen.&nbsp; She\nwill always be known as a great coach, mentor, and educator whose love of\nsports is present throughout the halls of Eunice High School.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A name that will always be associated with Eunice High School, Dixie Saucier is a well- respected and beloved educator and coach.&nbsp; Her love of sports and wanting young women to love them as well was evident during her 30 years of service to the Bobcats.
