Kenneth Young, a 1966 Eunice High graduate, was a basketball star for the Bobcats. Under the direction of his coach and mentor, Curtis Joubert, Young was named to the All-Southwest team and received first team All-State basketball honors as he led the state with a 32.4 points per game average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 1966, Kenneth Young was selected by the Lions Club as the\nMost Outstanding Player and in his senior year, Young was inducted into the EHS\nSenior Hall of Fame. He also played\nAmerican Legion baseball during the summers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kenneth Young went on to play basketball at Nicholls State\nUniversity and in 1970 graduated with a bachelor degree in lower elementary\neducation. Together, with his father\nBurleigh Young, Kenneth earned his masters degree from LSU. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kenneth Young taught at North Street Elementary and South\nStreet Elementary in Opelousas. He also\nserved as a basketball coach at Belmont Academy. Young was also a beloved sixth grade teacher\nat Acadian Middle School in Lafayette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sadly, in January 2007 at the age of 58, Kenneth Young\npassed away. However, his legacy will\nforever be recognized at Eunice High School as a great athlete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
