Lucille \u201cLucy\u201d Lejeune was an outstanding athlete at Eunice High School. A 1969 EHS graduate, Lejeune played basketball and track during her high school years and continued to play both sports at the University of Southwest Louisiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the direction of Coach Dixie Saucier, Lucy Lejeune was\nhard to stop her entire career\u2014as displayed with a 30-point outing against Lake\nArthur, 31 points against Oakdale, a 33-point performance against Abbeville and\na 42-point performance against Opelousas High. Lejeune was part of the 1968\nLady Cats District 4-2A champion team. A four year letterman at EHS, she was\nnamed to the All-District basketball team every year. Lejeune was named to the All-State Team for\nthree straight years and was District MVP three times. During her senior\nseason, Lejeune was the top scorer (506 points, 24ppg), top shooter (47%) and\ntop free throw shooter (118-of-157 75%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lucy Lejeune also ran track for EHS, winning the state shot\nput title during her sophomore year. In\n1969, Lejeune shattered the state discus record by 20 feet (105-9) earning her\na state champion title. She also earned\nsecond in the shot put (34-1) and basketball throw (205-7) and along with her\nteammates, finished second in the shuttle run (54.6). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To name just a few, Lucy Lejeune was a member of the EHS\nSenior Hall of Fame, yearbook staff, student council, FBLA, and French\nClub. She earned the title of Most\nOutstanding EHS Player by the Eunice Lions Club in 1966. After graduation, Lejeune played basketball\nand volleyball at USL from 1969 till 1972.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From 1976-1979, Lucy Lejeune served as a coach and teacher\nat EHS where in 1978 she led the Lady Cats to their first winning season since\nher senior season. She then went to\nMandeville to coach spending 28 years with the St. Tammany Parish School\nSystem. Lejeune presently serves as the\ndirector of career\/technical education in Jefferson Parish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
