Three-sport standout Christopher Carl Carrier is at member of the Eunice High Athletic Hall of fame.
The 1983 EHS graduate played football, basketball and participated in track as a Bobcat.
A four-year player, Carrier saw action as a quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back.
Carrier was the Defensive Player of the Game eight times, Offensive Player of the Game four times and was the MVP on the 1982 state championship team.
Carrier was District 4-3A Outstanding Defensive Player in 1981 and then was named district Defensive MVP in 1982.
Carrier was quoted as saying, \u201cAll those guys made a difference in my life and kept me on track on what I needed to do in the classroom and on the field.\u201d
He won numerous All-American honors in high school football before signing with LSU.
Carrier said he took visits to Alabama, Miami, Illinois, Texas and then settled on LSU.
He played four seasons at LSU as a safety and deep snapper, earning the Coaches Award for Outstanding Leadership in 1987 and was a Jim Thorpe Award finalist.
He earned All-SEC honors, AP honorable mention All-American and was named to both East-West Shrine All-Star game and Senior Bowl rosters.
After playing for Jerry Stovall, Bill Arnsparger and Mike Archer at LSU, Carrier was selected in the 1988 NFL draft by the Arizona Cardinals.
He began coaching in 1990 at St. Louis Catholic in Lake Charles and spent a year at LSU before being hired at Catholic High of Baton Rouge. In nine years at Catholic-BR, they won four state track championships.
In 2002, he was hired as assistant football coach at Dutchtown and also began their track program.
In 2009, Carrier moved to Zachary High as the dean of students, assistant football coach and head track coach.
Zachary has won four state championship in football and an impressive nine state track titles and eight runners-up trophies.
Carrier has been married to Wanda Thomas Carrier and they have two sons Christopher and Cameron.
They have two grandchildren Cate and Carter.
