Coutee is a 1984 EHS graduate and participated in football and track as a Bobcat.

During his career as a Bobcat football player, Coutee was named the 1982 2nd<\/sup> team All District Offensive Lineman, 1983 1st<\/sup> team all-district Offensive Lineman, 1983 1st<\/sup> team All State Offensive Lineman. He was selected to the 1983 Preseason all Louisiana football team. He was ranked as one of the top offensive linemen in the state during his senior year. In track, Coutee threw the shot put and discus. He also advanced to state in powerlifting his senior year.
Coutee was thankful for the influence of coaches Johnny Bourque, Robert Trent, Charles Mahfouz, Chad Lemoine and other educators.
\u201cWhat I learned growing up in Eunice was to trust yourself and work hard \u2013 do what you said you were going to do.\u201d
After Eunice High, Coutee played four seasons at LSU under head coaches Bill Arnsparger and Mike Archer.
\u201cThe two years I played at Eunice High and the four years at LSU were very impactful for my future,\u201d he said.
Coutee\u2019s biggest memory from his playing days was the 1988 \u201cEarthquake Game\u201d when LSU rallied to beat Auburn, 7-6.
\u201cIt was a very quiet game for us on offense as it was one of the most focused games we played,\u201d he said. \u201cWinning like we did proved to us what we could do if relied on each other.\u201d
Coutee earned a business degree from LSU and presently lives in Missouri City a suburb of Houston, Texas and is the COO of Luby\u2019s Fuddrucker\u2019s restaurant.
\u201cFood was a very important part of lives where we grew up,\u201d he said. \u201cI got into the business because I knew people always have to eat.\u201d
His parents Faye and Joe Coutee own Coutee\u2019s Grocery and they taught him \u201cto know his value, be trustworthy and help others.\u201d
He has been married to Myra Coutee for 35 years and they have two children, Ben and Miranda.
