Roy Jones, a 1985 All-State selection at offensive guard and a track letterman, personified toughness in the 1985 Rambo Squad Eunice football team that finished with a 13-1 record and was a Class 3A state semifinalist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jones, who teammates called the heart and soul of the team, brought a grit to the team that not many, if any, of his teammates could match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He described himself as a kid who was rough around the edges and described football as his escape. When on the field, Jones insists that he was \u201cjust having fun\u201d every time out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet, having fun brought out a certain nastiness in Jones. He described football as a \u201cfour quarter dance\u201d and loved the toughness in which the game was played with back then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On top of football, he was also a decorated member of the track and field team where he threw shotput.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
