Nagata was an outstanding athlete who played football, basketball, and track for the Bobcats and later became the head coach of the Bobcats.
Nagata joined the Eunice High staff in 1951 and took over as the Bobcats’ head football coach in 1963.
He went on to be named District Coach of the Year twice, in 1964 and 1966.
Nagata coached at Eunice for 11 seasons and then moved St. Edmund, where he guided the Blue Jays to a pair of state championship games.
