Coach Danny Soileau, newly retired educator of St. Landry Parish School Board, current SLP bus driver and City of Eunice Marshall. Coach Soileau attended Eunice High School and graduated in 1978. During his 3 years at Eunice High School he played Wing Buck for the Battling Bobcats for 3 seasons. He also played the positions of Left Field and 3rd base for the Bobcats and ran track.
Coach Danny was Class Parliamentarian and Rodeo Club President.
He is married to Ms. Leanna Bunn Soileau and the proud father to former
Bobcat Josh Soileau who also played baseball at EHS, was named to the All State team and still holds the Homerun record for the Bobcats. Coach Danny and Ms. Leanna are also joined by Daughter in law Chasity and one of their biggest blessings, grandson Tate Daniel.
After graduating in 1978 Coach Danny attended SLCC and became and adjunct professor, he also coached baseball for 20 years at EHS under current Head Coach Scott Phillips. While coaching the Bobcats, Coach Danny assisted his teams in reaching the playoffs every year, made several trips to the quarterfinals and made 3 appearances at the State Semi-finals.
Coach was also instrumental in the construction and completion of the memorial block area in the front of EHS and building the bell tower that stands in that area. He also coached American Legion baseball for 7 years.
Until last month, Coach taught at the Eunice Career Center where he implemented the oil and gas curriculum. He also taught welding.
In 2017, he was the recipient of the (TE Educator Award and was also recognized as the Assistant Coach of the Year in Class 3/4A by the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association.
Coach Soileau stated that he was fortunate to play for Coach John Burson from 1975 to 1978 under then head coach Clarence Merricks and then to coach alongside coach B for 20 years under Head Coach Scott Phillips.
