Pam Fontenot Joubert, EHS alumnus from the class of 1975 and a retired St. Landry Parish teacher, has had an illustrious career in education and sports, A standout student-athlete at Eunice High School, Pam made her mark in multiple sports, including basketball, track, softball, and tennis.
In basketball, she was a 3-year point guard for the Lady Cats and earned numerous accolades, such as making the 1st team All-District for two years, being named Best Offensive Player, and being named to the All-Tournament team and All-Parish team for two years each. She also maintained a 69% free-throw average and averaged 6.5 points per game.
Pam also ran track for Coach Larry Manuel for two years, played softball for Coach John Burson in the first year the sport was formed at EHS, and had a successful tennis career, playing both singles and doubles and placing 2nd in doubles at Regionals.
Pam was actively involved in many activities, clubs, and organizations at EHS, including being a Green Jacket, Rodeo Club Secretary, FBLA member, cheerleader, Homecoming Court Maid, member of the Biracial Committee, Junior Class favorite, Senior Hall of Fame inductee, and an FFA sweetheart.
After graduating from Eunice High, Pam attended LSUE, where she continued to play both singles and doubles tennis and was named the best Female Athlete for two years. She then furthered her education at LSU, McNeese, and USL, earning degrees in Special Education, a Masters in Secondary Education in Supervision, and a generic Certification in SPED.
During her 34 year teaching career, Pam worked as a teacher and Instructional Specialist at Eunice High and was named Teacher of the Year in 1997. She also served as the Boys and Girls Tennis coach from 1985-1989 and 1995-2005, earning the title of Coach of the Year for Girls Tennis in 1995 and every year between 1998-2005. Her teams were District Champs those years and regional runners-up in 1999, 2002, 2003, and 2005. Pam was also named Boys Tennis Coach of the Year in 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2005, with the boys’ team winning district championships and regional championships in 1995.
Pam’s other roles included EHS Assistant Girls Basketball Coach from 1984-1987, Greenjacket sponsor from 1997-2003, School Building Level Committee member, Sped Department Head from 1992-2015, and LHSAA lifetime member. She was a GUMBO (Games Uniting Body and Mind for physically disabled students) coach from 1996-2000, a lifetime member of the EHS Alumni Association, and Faculty Advisor from 1994-2015. Pam’s dedication to education, sports, and her community has left a lasting impact on those she has worked with and taught over the years.
In our community, Pam has been involved in the Eunice Ladies Tennis League, Eunice Recreation Committee, Summer Tennis Camp, and the St. Anthony Church community.
Pam is the proud mother to two daughters, Angelle and Erica, and grandmother to Wesley and Alyse.
