Carl Jory, a star quarterback for Eunice High in the 1950s and 60s, lettered four years in football and basketball and three years in track and field.
He was an all-district selection in football his junior and senior years and in basketball his junior year.
Upon graduation from Eunice High, Jory received a scholarship to play football at Tulane where he started at quarterback on the freshman team. However, after a year, he transferred to lSU to finish college and pursue a degree in medicine. He graduated from LSU Medical School with a doctorate in family medicine.
Jory eventually moved to Bunkie and started a family practice, where he served for three decades. He passed away on Feb. 15, 2006, and his survivors include wie Dotte, two daughters Suzannah Townsend and Caroline Stassi and his son Pete Jory.
When Jory is spoken of, its not about his athletic career but rather his integrity. He was a crucial piece of the fabric of Bunkie, Louisiana, and was a deep believer in his Christian faith.
